Freshly squeezed juices are not only a source of real pleasure but also a large number of vitamins and trace elements. Homemade squeezed juice from berries or fruit does not contain preservatives, like all store juices, it is much better, tastier and healthier. Many things in this matter also depend on the quality of the instrument, with the help of which fruits, vegetables, and berries are transformed into a life-giving drink — juicers.
The first step is to determine the type of juicer and its capabilities. Modern electric juicers are divided into three types:
- Citrus juicers. This is a very simple type of juicer. They represent a rotating conical nozzle and a small container for collecting squeezed juice. Most often made of reliable plastic (in order not to oxidize the juice from citrus), at least – from metal. These are usually low-power devices that allow you to work only with citrus fruits: oranges, grapefruits, limes, and lemons. In order to use fruits of different diameters in such juicers, several nozzles are provided – for large and small fruits.
- Centrifugal juicers. They are more versatile and allow you to use a wide range of fruits. Due to this, such models are the most popular on the market. They work on the simple principle: the fruit inside the juicer is first finely minced, then passed through a fine sieve, separating the juice from the pulp.
- Auger juicers The most effective type of juicers, which literally “squeezes out all the juice” – the flesh from the fruit at the output is almost dry. In addition, auger juicers do an excellent job with large volumes and will greatly help with seasonal harvesting of the grown crop. Juice in them can be obtained not only from the usual fruits and vegetables, but also from seeds, herbs, and even nuts.
How to Choose a Good Juicer?
The first thing you should pay attention – this is the material of the juicer. The device will constantly contact with the acidic medium. This means that most of the parts must be made of stainless steel. Nozzles and containers made of plastic should be fine. The width of the neck is another important point. If you do not have time to cut fruits and vegetables, a device with a narrow neck will not work for you. The power of juicers can vary from 150 to 250 W (in auger-type juicers) to 1250 W – for centrifugal models. Electricity consumption is directly dependent on the power of the device.
Pay attention to the running time of the juicer. Low-power models work up to 10 minutes without stopping and without overheating. Powerful juicers – work tirelessly for up to 20 minutes without a break. During a stop, the parts must be cleaned. For some devices, such cycling is automatically adjusted. Nowadays, manufacturers offer super-powered engine models. You can also find juicers with two centrifuges, working from a single engine.
